"Once a humble paladin serving under the house of Banacath, Kerethos was a devoted protector of peasants and farmers throughout Morov. One bitter winter, a terrible famine struck the entire nation of Damara, and Kerethos appealed to the baron of Morov for help to save the people from hunger and disease. In response, the baron's guards stabbed him and threw him into the frozen river of Goliad, leaving him for dead. Praying to Kelemvor in his final moments, the god appeared to him, revived him, and granted him the power to avenge his murder and bring justice to the people he had failed to protect. With a scythe in hand, he swore an oath of vengeance, not only on the baron, but on every noble who mistreats their subjects."
